The 'Motorized carpet', exhibited in the railway station hall in Helsinki (Artgenda, 2000), a giant glass building, was a mechanical, aerodynamic multimedia art installation. The audience gazed up at a 4300 ft2 cloth suspended from the roof by 39 wires, lifted and lowered individually by 39 computer-controlled Winch10 winches. The sophistication of Wahlberg's mechanical design made it possible to create a wide variety of evocative movement styles in the 'motorized carpet', and combined with the projected light impressions onto the cloth (light designer: Peter Tagesen) and the underlying instrumental music, the installation gave Helsinki travellers a unique sensory experience.
