Sade Tour & Wahlberg

For the 2011 Sade live concert tour, Wahlberg invented a unique stage show drape solution by constructing an original DMX controlled system, using 50 Wahlberg Winch10 engines to lift and move an Austrian curtain assembly consisting of two drapes divided into sections. Each section was attached to a wire, allowing the winches on the top rail to lift and move each drape section independently. With its individual positioning options, the curtain construction enabled the designer to make sophisticated drape movements – orchestrated from the lighting control console.

Sade

Since her first hit single Your Love Is King (1984), Sade and her band have been unsurpassed as a jazz-soul ensemble, not least due to the face and voice of the Nigerian-born British singer Sade Adu. Since the hugely successful three hit albums of the 1980’s – Diamond Life, Promise and Stronger than Pride – Sade has released three more studio albums over the course of the last couple of decades. Covering three continents, the 2011 Live World Tour was a long-awaited opportunity for fans and new listeners to enjoy the special ambiance of Sade, who had not toured with her band in ten years when their 2010 album was released. The Grammy-winning Soldier of Love went straight to number one on the US Billboard 200 and sold over 500.000 copies just within the first week. With its 59 shows, covering four continents, Sade’s Once in a Lifetime Tour earned over $50 million dollars and a spot among the 10 most successful tours of 2011.
